Since this temple is located near Madhurai Park, the name of the temple became Poonga Murugan.
This temple is located just opposite the Gandhi Museum. Devotees visit this temple to get rid of the Ragu Kethu adverse effect. This temple has sub-shrines for goddesses like Vinayakar, Hanuman, Shiva, Saraswathy, and Dhurga. There is a small mandapam and a huge one for conducting special functions. Many people come to this temple to perform their marriages here.
